Over the Rockies to Kamloops - Monday 17th August

We had a longer travel day today as we began traveling west towards the Pacific, following the historic Yellowed Pass.
After departing Jasper town this morning, & Jasper National Park shortly afterwards, we left Alberta & entered British Columbia & Mount Robson Provincial Park.
Along the way we came across a male elk by the roadside & enjoyed an almost perfect view of the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies.
Late this morning we arrived in Blue River, British Columbia, our destination for 'One Amazing Hour' on a river safari.  After being kitted out & boarding our boats we certainly did enjoy an excellent time on the water, seeing an osprey first, racing along Mud River & across Mud Lake, & then spotting three black bears on the shore!  We were able to watch all three for a long time, then took a circular route back in the hope of seeing more wildlife.
After our fruitful hour on the boats we enjoyed a great lunch of bison or salmon burgers, followed by cheesecake.
Our travel continued from Blue River, with a short break in Clearwater & then a side trip into Wells Gray Provincial Park - known as Canada's Waterfall Park - to see the very impressive Spahats Falls.
After another 90 minutes drive we arrived in Kamloops, our overnight stop, where we enjoyed a great  group dinner at the end of another great day.

Tomorrow:  Over the sea to Victoria
